For Kloto’s last collection' story, designer Senem Gençoğlu looked to Mardin, her grandmother’s hometown. An ancient hilltop settlement, with its traditional stone houses overlooking the plains of Mesopotamia, the city mesmerized the designer as a child and, as her understanding of the history and appreciation for its architecture has grown, so too has her fascination. At the heart lies the Sun Temple, whose simple, crude and humble appearance belies a deceptively complex structure made even more impressive by its age. Pieces are created with a timeless appeal in tribute to the temple’s longevity.
